I was commissioned to do an illustration showing the overlap between ‘organic’ (commonly seen as niche farm shops and high biodiversity) and ‘environment’ (commonly seen as hedgerows, wild flower meadows and bird hides).
These are not separate, but all part of a complex soil-food web, with a diversity of agricultural practices in between these. The illustration shows how soil health and biodiversity underlies all agriculture on the spectrum, with darker and more nutrient/microbe rich soils at the organic end.
The illustration was part of a presentation, and was well received by the President and Director of the NFU.
